TYPES OF IMPLANT-PROSTHETIC PROCEDURES

Determining the optimal type of implant-prosthetic procedure greatly depends on the number of missing teeth, the patient’s age and his/her psycho-physical condition.

MISSING ONE TOOTH?

Modern dentistry considers the dental implant to be the ideal solution for replacing a missing tooth. There are two implant placement options: immediate and delayed loading.

1. IMMEDIATE IMPLANT PLACEMENT AND LOADING

Immediate loading is the most common type of implant procedure. It is performed after dental trauma or front tooth extractions in patients who have sufficient bone tissue volume.

In cases in which bone is sufficiently healthy and strong, we are able to extract the tooth, place the implant and fix the temporary crown in a single visit – immediate implant placement and loading.

The temporary crown can be replaced by a permanent prosthetic solution in 2-3 months, depending on biological factors.

2. DELAYED IMPLANT PLACEMENT

If the patient does not have the right conditions for immediate implant placement, at least 2 months have to pass in order for the bone to regenerate and the implants to be placed.

In cases of one missing tooth, implant placement is a far superior restoration option than a classic dental bridge.

The patient actively participates in making the arrangements for creating the abutment and crown, the types of which depend on his/her individual situation.

When a larger number of teeth are missing, dental implants are positioned as bridge carriers – this type of restoration is an excellent functional and esthetic solution.
