The secret to a truly healthy smile

In this week’s Dental Center 4Smile blog, discover the secret to a truly healthy smile.

The foundation and top priority for maintaining a healthy smile is regular tooth brushing.

Brushing your teeth twice a day for two minutes is a fundamental part of good oral health, but there is one simple addition that can help ensure the health of your smile: interdental cleaning.

Although brushing is the most effective way to keep teeth clean, it reaches only about 60% of the tooth surface. Using interdental brushes, dental floss, or an oral irrigator (water flosser) to clean between the teeth is one of the easiest and most important things you can do to improve your oral health.

Why interdental cleaning is so important

Dr. Ivan Antolković, a dentist in Zagreb, points out that 90% of cavities in adults develop in the interdental space.

Dental plaque accumulates between the teeth, where a toothbrush cannot reach.

Over time, this can lead to cavities, gum inflammation, and bad breath. To prevent this, Dr. Antolković recommends regularly using an oral irrigator, dental floss, or interdental brushes.

The simplest and most comfortable option to use is certainly an oral irrigator.

We recommend cleaning between your teeth every day to keep your smile fresh and healthy.
